Following the launch of Audi A3 Cabriolet in India on December, 11 last year, the German premium car maker has launched the Audi A3 Cabriolet in Coimbatore. Priced at Rs. 44.75 lakh (ex-showroom , Delhi price), the Audi A3 Cabriolet resembles the A3 sedan with a soft top and features bi-xenon headlamps with DRLs and LED tail lamps.
The A3 Cabriolet is also equipped with 5-spoke design alloy wheels, anti-theft wheel bolts, electromechanical parking brake and power steering, space saving spare wheel that can be of temporary use and the Auto Release Function that holds the premium car stationary for unlimited time after stopping and prevents the vehicle from rolling on high gradients.
The India specific model will feature a 1.8-litre TFSI petrol engine that churns out 177bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. Even at a speed of 50 kms per hour, the automatic fabric roof of the A3 Cabriolet can operate electro hydraulically in 18 seconds. It is also equipped with a 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The interiors sport 4-spoke leather trimmed, multi function steering wheel, electronic front nad rear windows, air vents in aluminium look, front and rear floor mats and front centre arm rest, inlays in 3D aluminium, interior lighting. Besides that, the interiors also include lashing points that prevents the movement of luggage, light and rain sensor package, dual zone electronic climate control, smoking package and sun visors. There are storage compartments under the front driver’s seat, central console and door side trims.
The Infotainment section consists of 5.8 inches QVGA colour display screen, Audi sound system that consists of 9 speakers, MMI radio, Audi Music Interface, Bluetooth interface, Driver’s Information System.
To ensure safety, the Audi A3 Cabriolet is equipped with adaptive brake lights, airbags, anti-slip regulation, ABS and EBD, electronic differential lock, electronic stabilization control, first aid kit, secondary collision brake assist, remote central locking, rest recommendation system and seat belt reminder for all seats.

Last year, Audi India had recorded the annual sales of 10,002 units in the calendar year 2013 and in FY 2013-14, it had recorded an annual sales of 10,126 units. As per Ananda Krishnan, “this achievement was also a first for the luxury car industry in India.”
The Audi officials feel that the launch of Audi A3 Cabriolet will reinforce the company’s presence in this space.
