Due to hike in excise duty, Ford India has hiked the prices of all variants of Ford Fiesta by upto Rs. 1,00,000. The company had launched its entry-level Ambiente variant at Rs. 7.69 lakhs, the Trend model (the mid-level variant) at Rs. 8.55 lakhs and the Titanium variant (the top end model) at Rs. 9.29 lakhs.
After the price hike, the Ambiente variant will cost Rs. 8,50,400, the Trend variant will cost Rs. 9,39,600 and the Titanium variant will cost Rs. 10,18,600.
The recent price hike will affect the sales of the Ford India as sedan buyers in India have an option to switch to Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the upcoming Hyundai Verna facelift.
Last year, in December, automakers in India had announced their plans to increase the prices of their products due to rising input costs. In the beginning of this year, when the Central Government announced its decision to rollback the reduced excise duties on automobiles, carmakers operating in India were compelled to hike the prices of their products.
