The new Bajaj Platina 100 that has been updated with new body panels, exhaust pipes, graphics and shades is scheduled to be launched in February 2015. The bike does not get a new engine, which means that the new Bajaj Platina 100 will continue to be powered by a 99.27cc air cooled engine that produces 8.2 PS of power and 8.05 Nm of torque. The bike will be available with a four speed gearbox.
Most of the features like the headlight, tail light, turn indicators, telescopic forks in front and drum brakes will continue in the new model too. Besides that, the same alloy wheel design will also continue to feature in the same model.
The New Platina 100 will be priced at Rs. 37,044 (the same as that of the exisiting model of Platina) and will compete with Honda Dream Series, Hero Splendor and Hero Passion. With the launch of the new Platina, the company does not intend to discontinue the existing model.
The company expects to sell 80,000 units in a month once the 2015 model of Bajaj Platina is launched in India next month. With the launch of Bajaj Platina, the company is trying to target the commuter segment that has key players like Honda Motorcycles and Hero MotorCorp. Despite being one of the cheapest offerings, the sales numbers does not seem to be declining gradually. The possible reason behind the sales decline could be attributed to the fact that the Bajaj Platina did not go for any makeover, ever since it was launched.
In November, last year, the 2015 Bajaj Platina 100 was caught testing in Pune. With the growing competition in the motorcycle market, will the new Bajaj Platina 100 give stiff competition to other key market players?
We would love to know your opinion.
