Hyundai Motors has been caught testing the crossover version of the i20 in Chennai, India. Carmakers are working towards bringing out their respective crossovers for the Indian market. The Elite i20 Cross will hit Indian roads in 2015 and will cost more than the hatchback. The Elite i20 Cross will compete against Toyota Etios Cross, Volkswagen Cross Polo, Fiat Avventura and the upcoming S-Cross.
Hyundai’s crossover, Elite i20 will feature plastic claddings to give the car a beefier look, taller roof line, roof rails, projector headlamps, body cladding and Daytime Running Lights. The interiors are also expected to be tweaked to give the crossover a different look.
The engine specifications for the Elite i20 Cross will be the one that powers the hatchback as well. Therefore, the powertrain will include a that produces 82 hp of power and 114.7 Nm of torque. The 1.4-litre diesel variant will produce 89 hp of power and 220 Nm of torque.
