UPDATE: After lot of speculations about the launch date of 2015 Hyundai Verna facelift, Hyundai Motors India has finally confirmed that the sedan will be launched on February 18, 2015.
Of all the product launches planned by Hyundai India for 2015, the company has decided to launch the Hyundai New Verna on February 16, 2015. As per a report on Overdrive, the 2015 New Verna will sport some mechanical and cosmetic changes. The Hyundai new Verna is expected to be priced between Rs. 7.50 lakhs to Rs. 12 lakhs.
Known as ‘Solaris’ in the international markets, the new Verna is expected to get some changes to its suspension. The outgoing model that was launched in 2011 was criticized for its dead steering feel and soggy handling. Hyundai now wants to give a more tightly drawn look to the new Verna, just the way it did with the Elite i20.
The body design of the facelifted Verna is expected to take inspiration from the Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy, which will make the facelifted Verna resemble the new-gen Sonata upto a certain extent. The facelifted Verna will continue to be powered by two petrol variants (a 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre engines) and two diesel variants (1.4 and 1.6 CRDi engines).
The Korean car maker is likely to introduce a new set of alloy wheels, new front and rear bumpers with LED daytime running lights and a hexagonal grille to the new Verna. The 2015 Verna is also expected to feature a new front fascia with larger headlamps, dual-slat chrome grille and new fog-lamps. The interiors are likely to feature additional airbags and a new touchscreen infotainment system.
2014 was a great year for Hyundai as the Korean car maker had gained a market share of 21.6 % ever since it started its operations in India. After the success of Hyundai Elite i20, the company is all set to gain its lost ground in the mid-sized sedan segment. Hyundai Verna had ruled the mid-sized sedan segment before the arrival of Honda City. After the launch of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna has further slipped own to third position in the market.
The new Verna will compete with Volkswagen Vento, the new Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Hyundai has already launched the New Verna in Russia and it is all set to hit India roads on February, 2016.
In order to strengthen its market position in India, Hyundai has scheduled the launch of its cars across various segments in 2015. Besides New Verna facelift, Hyundai will launch the i20 Crossover, ix25 compact SUV, New Hyundai Sonata (premier saloon) and new Hyundai Elantra (premier saloon)
