Replacing it’s SLS AMG, Mercedes Benz is all set to launch the Mercedes-AMG GT by March 2015. According to a report on Overdrive, the AMG GT will be available at a price tag ranging between Rs. 2 crore to Rs. 2.25 crore (for base and S variants).
Taking inspiration from the Vision GranTurismo Concept, the AMG GT sports a new design that is built on a shortened platform of the SLS AMG making it lighter than before.
Powering the Mercedes AMG GT is a 4.0 litre biturbo V8 that churns out 462 PS for the GT variant and 510 PS for the GT S variant and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kms per hour within 4 seconds while attaining a top speed of 310 kms per hour (for GT variant). The yet to be launched AMG GT is also available with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and an electronic differential.
The car comes with a safety features on board, that include attention assist, the high-beam assist, adaptive braking and pre-safe preventing features. However, the Indian version will be deprived of radar guided features like collision prevention, lane keep assistance and radar guided cruise control. The car gets lightweight due to the usage of aluminum.
The AMG GT has been styled with a long hood and its rear is dominated by a bulbously designed cabin. Featuring a low slung design, the AMG GT’s design looks masculine.
The Mercedes AMG GT will compete with Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Porsche 911 Turbo and Jaguar F-Type R.
