The next model that Mercedes will bring for its customers is the E400 Cabriolet. Mercedes will launch its CLA sedan and E400 Cabriolet in early 2015, as per a report published by Autocar India. Mercedes Benz India is all set to launch the regular model of CLA in January 22, 2015.

The Indian subsidiary of the company was selling a coupe and convertible variant of the sedan before launching the E Class in 2013. However, both the models were discontinued. The E400 Cabriolet from Mercedes sports a single-louvre grille and a redesigned front section with single piece headlamps.

The 2015 India bound E400 Cabriolet will be powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder (V6) turbo-petrol motor that produces 328bhp of power and 48.9kgm of torque. It also comes with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. It can accelerate from 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds. Besides that, the fully electric soft top operates at speeds up to 40 km per hour.

Key features in the E400 Cabriolet includes the COMAND interface (the latest from the company), a retractable deflector on the top edge of the windscreen and an AIRCAP. When it comes to space, the rear seats of the car is not so spacious. The reason behind this could be attributed to the folding roof that takes some space for itself. The car could afford to be a four seater due to narrower cabin and extended central console.

The exteriors of the E400 Cabriolet will have the same styling as it is in the E63 AMG. It will get a set of sporty front and rear bumpers. Adding more prominence to the sporty potential of the E400 Cabriolet are the large 18-inch wheels with 235/35 R18 front tyres and 255/30 R18 rear tyres.

The E400 has few rivals in the luxury and stylish convertible segment and it will be available in India at an estimated price tag of Rs. 90 lakh (ex-showroom price) and will be imported to India via Completely Built up Unit (CBU) route. Mercedes India assembles the regular variants of the E Class in India at its Chakan facility in Pune.

Mercedes Benz sells around 15 models in India. While the M-Class, GLA-Class, GL-Class, S-Class, E-Class and C-Class are assembled locally, other models like GLA 45 AMG, ML 63 AMG, GL 63 AMG, G 63 AMG, SLK 55 AMG Roadster, CLA 45 AMG, E 63 AMG, SLK-Class, E 350 CDI, CLS-Class, B-Class, A-Class are imported from Germany as completely built up units.
