Renault India is out with the first image of its MPV, Renault Lodgy in India. Renault Lodgy is scheduled to be launched in 2015. The new MPV is expected to be priced between Rs. 7 to Rs. 10 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi prices).
The Renault Lodgy will compete with Honda Mobilio, Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Mahindra Xylo in India. After the launch of Renault Duster, the French car manufacturer has been quite successful in the Indian Automotive market.
The French car maker has rendered a mild redesign to the car’s front fascia. The grille’s design is similar to the Lodgy sold in international markets. However, the Indian Lodgy gets a chrome.
The front bumper’s underlip of the Indian version will come with a black plastic cladding, whereas, the version sold abroad is finished in the body color. The interiors are expected to get some market specific changes as the Lodgy will share quite a lot of components with the Duster. The cabin resembles the one in Renault Duster AWD. The interiors include a chrome garnished instrument console, three-spoke wheel with audio controls and a twin-tone dashboard. The top-end models are expected to come with an infotainment system. The second and the third row of the top end variant could also come with climate control, Ac vents and controls.
The MPV is expected to use the 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine that produces 108bhp of power. Though the petrol variant is not being offered currently by the company but due to growing demand for petrol variants, the company might launch the 1.6-litre petrol engine version later. Lodgy will also be available with a 5 or 6-speed manual gearbox.
Currently, Renault is offering five models in the Indian market. That includes, two premium sedans- Scala and Fluence, one premium SUV-Koleos, one SUV-Duster and a premium compact car- Pulse. Renault India has its manufacturing plant in Oragadam, Chennai and has 130 dealer outlets across India.
