Audi, the German luxury automaker will launch the updated and efficient version of its popular Audi A-3 sedan in the Indian market today. As a reminder, the company has already presented the 2017 A-3 Cabriolet in India. Featuring cosmetic upgrades to the interior and exterior, the 2017 Audi A-3 facelift will also get a new petrol engine. The present 1.8 liter unit will be substituted by the 1.4 liter petrol engine that also powers the new Audi A-4. First launched in 2014, the entry level premium sedan has undergone several changes. The new A3 facelift was first exposed in Germany last year.
The exterior of the sedan comes with minimal upgrades, while most of the changes are offered inside the cabin. The vehicle receives new features including Audi’s simulated cockpit. It has Audi’s new single frame grille and LED headlights. At the back, the sedan gets sharper tail lamps with indicators. The cabin of the sedan gets all-black treatment, new upholstery and enhanced quality materials. The range-topping model comes equipped with a 7-inch retractable screen for the MMI infotainment system, climate control, electrically adjustable front seats, a panoramic sunroof, etc.
The new model is could be priced slightly higher than the outgoing model. We expect the model to be priced around Rs.25 lakh for the base model. Lately, the top class luxury segment has witnessed spur in demand with customers opting for the globally acclaimed luxury brands available at an affordable price. This has certainly given birth to a new section that is slowly expanding in size with new products being rolled out every year.
2017 Audi A3 Facelift Price in India
The Audi A3 facelift will receive subtle changes to the interior and exterior along with a host of new in-cabin tech. Additionally, the new petrol engine on the facelift version will most likely effect the cost, bringing it someplace close to Rs.25 lakh for the entry level variant while going up to Rs.32 lakh for the top-spec trim.
2017 Audi A3 Facelift Specifications
The new A3 sedan gets a new 1.4-litre TFSI gasoline unit, which replaces the previous 1.8-litre unit. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 148bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm as against 178bhp produced by the 1.8-litre TFSI petrol engine. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels of the sedan via a 7-speed automatic gearbox. This model claims to achieve 0-100kmph in just 8.2 seconds and hits a top speed of 224kmph.
On the other hand, the diesel A3 is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI unit that also powers several VW Group’s cars in India. This engine is good for 141bhp of power at 3,500rpm and 320Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. A 6-speed automatic gearbox driving the power to the front wheels come as standard.
