The new 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift today officially went on sale in India priced at Rs.15.49 lakh to Rs.22.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Mainly available in 3 trim options – Style, Ambition and Style Plus and eight different iterations based on engine options and transmission. The current generation Octavia was launched originally in 2013 and goes up against the likes of the Hyundai Elantra and the Toyota Corolla Altis. Skoda rights that this is the lowest entry-level price for the Octavia yet. The petrol powered base trim – 1.4 TSI MT Ambition variant starts at Rs.15.49 lakh and goes up to Rs.20.89 lakh for the top of the line 1.8 TSI Style plus AT variant. Similarly, among the diesel models the price for the 2.0 TDI CR MT Ambition start at Rs.16.89 lakh and goes up to Rs.22.89 lakh for the top-spec 2.0 TDI CR AT Style Plus variant.
Visually, the new Skoda Octavia facelift comes with substantial updates including the new signature butterfly grille design. Skoda has moved away from the single headlight cluster for the Octavia to a split headlight unit that Skoda calls Quadra LED headlights because it’s split into four compartments. The updated Octavia also gets new LED daytime running lights and fog lamps on the bumper. The overall design of the car stays the same on the side and on the back with the tail lamps getting a new LED lighting pattern. The new Skoda Octavia facelift also gets a new set of alloy wheels. The Skoda Octavia facelift will get both diesel and petrol engines. The 1.8-litre TSI engine generates 178 bhp and is coupled to a 7-speed DSG gearbox while the slighter 1.4-litre TSI gets mated to a 6-speed manual and makes 147 bhp. The diesel is the tried and tested 2-litre motor that makes 147 bhp and gets mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox.
