Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has launched the Innova Touring Sport in India at prices starting from Rs.17.79 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Contrary to expectations, the Touring Sport will be an official add-on to the Innova Crysta line-up in India and not just a limited edition variant. Based on the Innova Crysta, the Touring Sport carries cosmetic upgrades inside out. However, there are no mechanical changes. So what distinguishes the Touring Sport from the regular car out there? For starters, TKM is offering the Touring Sport in two shades – Wildfire and White Pearl Crystal Shine. The Touring Sport comes with a tag – ‘Designed to Distinguish’, and TKM aims to target potential buyers who want a characteristic style statement, all the while combining the MPV practicality with an affordable package. The Touring Sport features smoked headlamps, black grille with chrome ornament and front bumper spoiler with chrome bits. The 16 inch alloys now come in matte black surface and you also get black cladding running along the length of the body. At the rear, the car gets black garnish joining the tail lamps and bumper spoiler with chrome highlights. With the changes made, Toyota has certainly managed to make the Innova look a lot sportier, especially in that new Wildfire color.
Step inside and you are treated to an all-black interior with faux red wood inserts on the dashboard. The gadget cluster now gets red lighting, the all-black fabric gets sporty red stitching and you also get faux black wood inserts on the door mats. The Touring Sport is offered in four variants – 2.4 Diesel Vx Manual, 2.8 Diesel Zx Automatic, 2.7 Petrol Vx Manual and 2.7 Petrol Vx Automatic. The equipment list will be related to the corresponding Innova Crysta variants on offer.
Now to the prices; TKM has charged a premium of about Rs.75, 000 over the regular Innova Crysta variants, and here are the prices of the Innova Touring Sport variants offered.
2.7 Vx Petrol (MT) – Rs.17, 79,000
2.7 Zx Petrol (AT) – Rs.20, 84, 5000
2.4 Vx Diesel (MT) – Rs.18, 91,000
2.8 Zx Diesel (AT) – Rs.22, 15,500
TKM revealed that it has sold more than 80,000 units of the Innova Crysta since its launch and 95 per cent of the same is registered in the passenger vehicle segment. Another interesting fact is that 60 per cent of Innova Crysta sold were bought by older Innova customers. However, the petrol variants contributed only about 5 per cent of the total volume sold. In order to keep business continuity in the backdrop of NGT’s verdict banning diesel cars above 2000-cc, TKM had presented a 2.7 liter petrol motor to the Innova Crysta line-up within a few months of its launch.
