The German carmaker, Volkswagen will re-introduce its Passat luxury sedan in the Indian market. In fact, the new 2017 Volkswagen Passat has entered the production at the company’s Aurangabad plant in Maharashtra. The company has also confirmed that the premium saloon will see a release towards the end of this year. Interestingly, the new Passat will be the first luxury sedan to be based on the efficient MQB platform. Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are happy to carry back one of our most successful premium luxury car to the Indian market, the Volkswagen Passat. With the introduction of the Passat we extend our portfolio, encompassing a wide variety of products from a hatchback to a luxury sedan. In India, the new VW Passat will be offered with a 174.4bhp, 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine combined with a 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Volkswagen claims that the saloon’s new-gen model offers a perfect blend of performance, efficiency, luxury and safety. As a reminder, the 2017 VW Passat GTE was previewed at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The German auto major, Volkswagen has announced that the new Passat will be rolled out by the end of this year. Bookings for the sedan will be commenced near launch.
