Buoyed by positive response for Aprilia SR150, the Italian two-wheeler creator is now planning to add new variants to the SR range in India. The company has freshly introduced the SR150 Race edition and is now planning to introduce a new 125-cc scooter under SR-moniker. The Aprilia SR-125 could be the next Italian scooter to be sold in India. The scooter has already been touched in India for homologation purpose. The SR-125 looks identical to its bigger sibling. Except for the new 125 sticker, the scooter shares most of its components from the SR150. The scooter is equipped with butterfly shaped headlights, steering mounted turn indicators, twin-pod analog instrument cluster. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels shod with thick tyres. Like the bigger sibling, the scooter gets dual-tone seats. Powering the scooter will be a 125-cc engine that is paired to a CVT automatic unit. This engine is good for 8.2-Nm and 9.5-bhp of torque.
The standard version of the SR150 is currently priced at Rs.68,806, while the Race edition is tagged at Rs.71,923 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is expectable that the 125-cc unit will also be offered in two trims – Race and standard – and will be cheaper than the 150-cc unit. The SR125 is likely to be priced between Rs.60,000 to Rs.63, 000.
Aprilia SR 125 Launch Date. The scooter is currently in testing purpose, and has been spotted at ARAI facility for homologation purpose.
We expect SR125 will be launched during festive season (around Diwali). The upcoming Aprilia scooter will be powered by a new 125cc, single-cylinder, carbureted engine with 3-valved and air-cooling system. This BSIV compliant engine is capable of producing 9.5bhp of maximum power and 8.2Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels via a CVT automatic unit.
