If you worry that no one can see you in your Audi R8 V-10 Plus, the German automaker has finally come up with a solution. Welcome the Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus. It packs the most powerful series production engine from Audi – the V10 from the Lamborghini Huracan. This makes the R8 Spyder V10 Plus the fastest production convertible from Audi till date. This is the final iteration of the R8 lineup and the first cars will be delivered in late summer 2017. Jumping straight to the heart of the matter, the 5.2-litre V10 now produces 610PS of max power and 560Nm of torque with a red-line of a massive 8,700rpm. This power figure is a jump of 70PS from the Audi R8 Spyder V10. Mated to the 7-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission, the engine sends power to all the four wheels via the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. The result is quite simple and fast: 0-100kmph time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 328kmph. These figures, though slower than the coupe, are 0.3seconds faster and 10kmph more than the R8 Spyder V10. And for those who care, the R8 Spyder V10 Plus runs 8 kilometers per liter of fuel.
All this power from the V10 pulls a space frame which is made out of a combination of aluminum components and carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP). Get the driver out, and the car weighs just 1,695kg while the dry weight is 1,587kg, 25kg lighter than the Audi R8 Spyder V10. The aluminum parts make up 79.6 percent of the weight of the car, with the cloth top weighing 44kg. From the outside, the first thing which strikes you are the vertical slats in the air dams which follow on from the headlamps. In this micrommata green design package, the R8 Spyder V10 Plus look gorgeous with carbon fibre accents all around. The front diffuser, fixed rear spoiler and the rear diffuser are made out of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). The hood takes 20 seconds to open or close and this can be done while driving up to a speed of 50kmph.
The optional micrommata green design package in which the car has been unveiled also plays trickery inside the car. The car gets completely blacked out interiors dressed in perforated Nappa leather. Matching the exterior, you get green contrast stitching on the seats, center armrests, doors and floor mats with luminous color that matches the exterior. The Spyder V10 Plus will most likely come to India. Prices for this open-top Audi in Germany start from 207,500 Euros, which is roughly Rs.1.5 crore. But given our tax structures, if and when the Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus comes to our shores, it will cost about Rs.3.1 crore.
