For the next six months, Bajaj would be in news as the company is in plans to launch its six new products in the first six months of this year. This seems to be aggressive strategy adopted by Bajaj to regain its market share in the two-wheeler segment in India.
The new product line up will include the new 100cc bike. With the launch of this product, the company aims to gain a market share of more than 20 percent in the domestic market. The much awaited Pulsar 400 would also be one among the six new products.
“In the next six months, there will be one launch every month from us,” a PTI report quoted S Ravikumar, Bajaj Auto President (Business Development & Assurance), as saying.
Sharing Bajaj’s plans, Ravikumar said, “In the 100 cc segment, we have the Platina to address the value-for-money customers and Discover for executives. The new model will have its own space.” He also added, “We also will launch a 400 cc bike under our flagship Pulsar brand”. Commenting on the company’s position in the market, Ravikumar explained, “We are looking at improving our market share, which is currently around 16-17 per cent to over 20 per cent by March on the basis of these launches.”
In the two-wheeler segment in India, Bajaj has to compete with Hero MotorCorp and Honda MotorCycle and Scooter India (HMSI). While Bajaj trails behind Hero MotorCorp, it is currently ahead of Honda MotorCycle and Scooter India.
According to Ravikumar, models like KTM, Platina and Pulsar had grown but Discover has witnessed decline. He also expressed that, the company is poised to cross four million mark in 2014-15. On being asked about the impact faced by company due to rollback of excise duty concessions, Ravikumar said, the company has already passed on the hike to the customers.
