Sports car enthusiasts will get to see their first indigenously built DC Avanti hitting the Indian streets, sometime in early 2015. The DC Avanti, a mid-engined sports car, is expected to be priced at Rs. 35 lakh approximately. The concept of DC Avanti was first unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2012. The Indian built sportscar offers a city fuel economy of 8.0 km per litre while the fuel economy on highways is at 10.0 kilometre per litre.
The two seater sportscar has a ground clearance of 170mm making it suitable for Indian roads. The DC Avanti has a length of 4550mm, width of 1965mm and a height of 1200mm. The two door car has a wheel base of 2700mm, front tread is 1670mm while the rear tread has been kept at 1650mm. The gross weight of the car is 1580kgs.
DC Avanti has a 2.0-litre four cylinder (four valves per cylinder) turbocharged engine that produces 248 bhp and 24.6kgm of torque. The DC Avanti can accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour within 6 seconds and can attain a top speed of 180 km per hour. It also comes with a 6-speed manual gear box.
Interiors and Comfort:
DC Avanti has a central console with chrome surrounds, stacked screens and body coloured separators. The car also get a 3-spoke steering wheel and hooded dials. It has touch buttons for the air-conditioning system and the sports car has also been provided with a touchscreen infotainment system. A digital instrument panel is also expected to be part of the goodies.
The car is equipped with 330mm ventilated four-pot disc brakes at the front and 295mm at the rear. Anti-lock breaking system, developed by Continental, comes as a standard feature.
DC Avanti is the first sports car designed in India by DC design, a firm headed by Dilip Chhabria. Dilip Chhabria is a well-known Indian Automobile designer. He began his career working at the Design centre for General Motors, USA after completing his degree in Transportation design at the Art Center College of Design, in California. Before unveiling DC Avanti, he was recognized as one the largest Indian auto accessory manufacturers.
Working under the DC design banner, Chhabria has positioned the DC brand name as a trustworthy go-to destination for remodeling cars, vans and other vehicles, especially, the one owned by celebrities.
