Ducati to launch 5 new models in India in 2017
Ducati India registered a growth of 18 % in 2016 and intersected the overall mark of selling 1000 Ducati motorcycles in India since the brand’s launch. Announcing its sales growth, Ducati India also announced that it will launch five new models in 2017 but did not disclose any further details.
The company’s market share grew from 6.4 % to 7.7% in 2016, been backed by the launch of new models like the Multistrada 1200 Enduro, XDiavel, Hyperstrada 939 and the Hypermotard 939 aided by the growing dealership network in the country. In the year 2016, Ducati distributed 580 motorbikes crossways the country and expanded its network to five dealerships in cities including Bangalore, Pune, and Ahmedabad.
The Ducati Diavel Dark and Carbon has accounted for 17 percent of total sales in 2016, while the Ducati Scrambler alone has registered a growth of 38 percent as compared to the previous year. The Ducati Monster recorded 19 percent sales growth and the 959 Panigale accounted for 12 percent of total sales, despite the deliveries starting only in July, 2016. In the 1000 cc adventure touring segment, which includes Ducati Multistrada 1200, grew by 127 percent in 2016. Of this, the Multistrada 1200, alone commands a strong 89 % share, a company release claimed.
Ravi Avalur, Managing Director of Ducati India said, “Our growth has confirmed Ducati’s ability to excite the Indian market. In 2017, we will have a robust network of ten dealerships crossways the country. The Ducatisti community is also growing with three Desmo Owners Clubs operational and two more in the pipeline. We’re looking forward to a great 2017 for Ducati.”
In the international market, Ducati Motor Holding has sold 55,451 units of motorcycles in 2016 and has recorded an increase in sales of 1.2 percent as compared 54,809 units sold in 2015. The five new models in 2017 in India will help the company further expand its model portfolio and boost its sales. Ducati model range in India includes Diavel, Hypermotard, Monster, Multistrada, Scrambler, and Superbike.
