The front fascia of the Ford Figo facelift features a new honeycomb grille as opposed to the chrome slats of the existing model. The front bumper has been revamped and the headlamps are blacked out. The rear of the updated hatchback also features subtle updates with a tweaked tail light cluster. It could be christened as the Figo Trail here as the Brazil-spec variant is known as Ka Trail. And it will go up against cross hatches such as the Hyundai i20 Active, VW Cross Polo and others. Expect it to undercut its rivals. The Brazilian-spec model comes with increased ground clearance and a different suspension setup among other mechanical changes. Also on offer are wheel arch cladding, faux skid plates and decals along with other tough-looking aesthetic additions both inside and out to make it stand out from the regular hatch crowd.

The cross variant of the Figo sports faux skid plates, plastic body and roof rails cladding running across the body and wheel arches. The Figo cross is shod with dark six-spoke alloy wheels. The cross variant of the hatchback is likely to be launched as Figo Active or Figo Freestyle. The interior of the Figo cross variant is likely to receive subtle upgrade in the form of a new touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC3, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay. Apart from that, the cabin might also feature premium seat upholstery with new colours. Ford previously sells the Ka Trail – a cross-hatch based on the Ford Ka (Figo for our market) – in marketplaces like South America. Sighting of this test mule in India could mean Ford is readying an India entry of this model, which will be based on the updated Figo hatchback. The Figo Cross in India would undercut other cross-hatches like the the Honda WR-V, Hyundai i20 Active and the Toyota Etios Cross. While other automakers offer either a cross hatch or a sub-four-meter SUV, Ford would be the only one to offer both a cross-hatch and an SUV.

The Ford Figo cross is probable to draw power from the present 1.5-litre diesel engine. The report also states that Ford will introduce the new Dragon series 1.5-litre petrol engine which made its India debut with the new EcoSport compact SUV. The cross variant of the Figo hatchback looks rugged due to the body cladding and roof rails. On the mechanical front, the Figo cross is probable to continue unaffected. Expect Ford to showcase the new Figo and the cross variant of the hatchback at the 2018 Auto Expo in February 2018.
