After having lessened the number of motorcycles from the Indian lineup by removing them from the portfolio, Hero MotoCorp will be introducing two new models by September 2017. The launch has been planned for that period considering the advent of the festive season.
The CEO and Managing Director of Hero MotoCorp, Mr Pawan Munjal, had earlier stated that the company will be introducing six new motorcycles and scooters in the fiscal year 2017-18. However, these new products will be in the top-class segment and not the regular commuter models that the corporation normally focuses on. Hero Moto-Corp has always been a brand to focus on commuter-centric motorbike models and the business’s range of powerful and premium ones are small. This has made the company to be the biggest bike maker in India and a company that churns out a huge volume in the sales chart.
It presently retails more than 6 lakh units every month which is a whopping number considering that the other performance oriented brands, like Suzuki, do not even cross the one lakh mark. In May 2017 itself, the firm sold a enormous 6, 33,884 motorbikes in total. Moreover, planned investments in the field of research and development have been a great way of keeping the company on a high scale even though it drifted away from the royal-laden technology of Honda. In the previous fiscal (April 2016 to March 2017), Hero MotoCorp sold 66, 63,903 units, which is the best ever sales number in any single financial year so far for the company. Furthermore, the company has even planned to increase its presence to 50 countries by the end of this decade (2020). Hero recently launched the new 2017 Glamour and has many other performance oriented motorcycles and scooters down in the pipeline. One of the products, the Hero Xtreme 200-S is probable to be launched in 2018 during the Auto Expo. It will be competing with 200 cc displacement motorcycles like KTM Duke 200 and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
