Honda PCX Electric showcased at Tokyo auto-expo
Honda Motorbike and Scooter (HMSI) will soon launch its new PCX of electric and hybrid scooters in India. The new PCX scooter was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and the two-wheeler maker also imported the new scooter into India for R&D (Research and Development) purposes. The PCX is expected to be launched in the country by next year and is likely to be priced at around Rs.85, 000 (ex-showroom). The PCX will likely be available in two versions – the PCX Electric and PCX Hybrid. The PCX is already available in global markets and the company also showcased the scooter at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Both the scooters will be based on the same platform, however, will have different engine options. The PCX Electric will be equipped with an engine that has been advanced by the Japanese brand with Honda Mobile Power Pack and will have a removable battery.
The PCX Hybrid, on the other hand, will get a new high output battery with ACG (All Condition Gears) start to assist the engine. The hybrid scooter is probable to be powered by a 150-cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that will mature around 11 bhp of power and 14 Nm of torque.
The Honda PCX Electric is likely to measure 1,923mm in length, 745mm in width and 1107mm in height. The PCX scooter will have a modern design language and with fairing. Honda may also equip the PCX with LED turn pointers, front and back disc brakes and a digital instrument console. The PCX Electric and the PCX Hybrid is also likely to have dual tone colour theme. While there is no official confirmation from the bike maker, both scooters could find a place at the upcoming Auto Expo in New Delhi, where electric mobility is the theme of the hour.
The new PCX Electric and Hybrid scooters will be available for sale across Asia and Japan from 2018. We also imagine the corporation to showcase the scooters at the 2018 Auto Expo. When launched in India, it will be the premium scooter in the company’s portfolio and will be positioned above the Activa.
