After the presentation of the 2017 City facelift, Honda is gearing up for the launch of the all new WR-V in India on March 16, 2017. Honda had unveiled the all new Honda WR-V at the Sao Paulo Auto Show in Brazil last year. We had earlier reported that the all new Honda WR-V is coming to India this year, now we have confirmation that the WR-V is indeed coming and that too next month. The car was first unveiled at the 2016 Sao Paulo International Show in Brazil late last year, and is based on the Honda Jazz. When it is launched in India, it will go up against other hatchback crossovers like the Volkswagen Cross Polo, Hyundai i20 Active, Fiat Avventura Urban Cross and Toyota Etios Cross. However, unlike with its contestants, Honda has improved the design quite a bit from the car it is based on.
The front-end of the car reminds us of the Honda BR-V thanks to elements like the chrome band on the grille, the bracketed fog-lamp enclosures and the headlights. The side profile however, is really similar to the Jazz save for the plastic cladding around the wheel arches, the new roof rails and the alloys. The rear, although similar to the Jazz, has been expertly redesigned with new bumpers and taillights to make it look different from the standard hatchback.
The Honda WR-V will borrow the engine and transmission from Honda Jazz. So under the bonnet expect to see the tried and tested 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol that generates peak power of 89 BHP and top torque of 110 Nm , mated to a five – speed manual transmission and a CVT. The extraordinarily efficient 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel will churn out maximum power output of 99 bhp and maximum torque of 200 Nm, mated to six – speed manual gear transmission.
The new Honda WR-V will come with redesigned headlights with round fog lamps, diamond-cut alloy wheels and chrome door handles. On the inside, the Honda WR-V gets touch screen infotainment system, Apple Car Play, Android Auto and climate control.
The new Honda WR-V will take on the likes of Ford Eco Sport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai i20 Active and Toyota Etios Cross in India.
Expect the new Honda WR-V to be priced from Rs.7 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi)- Rs.9 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
