Hyundai is not only one of the preferred car brands in India but it is also known for being an automaker that manufactures good auto products at a reasonable price. After having enjoyed the success of Hyundai Elite i20, the Korean carmaker has been testing on an apparently similar SUV based on the i20. The car has been captured without camouflage by one of the car enthusiasts, Abhijit More and seeing the badging of the car in the spy shots, we can decipher that the new car from Hyundai that was being called the i20 Cross until now has been named the i20 Active.

The i20 Active features some cosmetic alterations that include silver roof rails, circular fog lamps at the front and rear, new set of alloy wheels, black cladding around the skirting and bumpers and new paint shade for the exteriors. In addition to that, the i20 Active also gets silver skid plates, projector headlamps and a rear spoiler. It is expected that Hyundai could incorporate the LED DRLs to the car. The new i20 Active will miss the metallic honeycomb mesh for five black slats and the fuel filler cap gets a silver finish.

The car sports more ground clearance than before and the colour of the dashboard is also fine-tuned. The i20 Active is getting ready for its launch, which is likely to happen in few weeks. Once, it is launched in India, it will compete with Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and VW Cross Polo.

Hyundai’s i20 was awarded the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY), 2015. Hyundai’s grand i10 bagged the title of the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) in 2014. In 2008, the ICOTY award was bagged by Hyundai i10. Hyundai has been the only automaker to have bagged the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) for two successive years.
