Isuzu carmaker has reportedly announced that it will be launching the much anticipated MU-X SUV in India on the 11th of May 2017. However, this is not the official word and the confirmation is yet to come from the company.
The Isuzu MU-X is likely to be a direct rival to the best Toyota Fortuner and will be sharing its styling basics with the D-Max V-Cross pickup van on the front section. The back is probable to get split tail lights on the boot door. It is expected to underpin the same platform as the Chevrolet-Trailblazer. Hence, the dashboard will be very similar to it. The other styling elements within the cabin will be derived from the pickup version.
On the mechanical side, the Isuzu MU-X will be available in many variants. Initially, the SUV will be available in AWD (all-wheel drive) drivetrain for both the manual transmission as well as the automatic transmission. Two wheel drive options will be made available later. At the heart, the MU-X will likely be getting a 3.0-litre engine for the Indian version also. Moreover, a downscaled 1.9-litre engine with a power deliverance of 150 bhp can be expected towards the latter part of the year.
The all new Isuzu MU-X will be up against the Ford Endeavour, the new Toyota Fortuner and the popular Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Interestingly, the Isuzu has recently unveiled the face lifted version of the SUV for the international market, but India will be getting the pre-facelift version.
