Unclear and blurred images of the India bound 2016 Toyota Fortuner are being reported by the Thai media and various forums. Though Toyota is yet to reveal the images of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner, we expect these images could be a snapshot of the presentation made by the automaker for its dealers and partners.
Based on the new ladder frame chassis, the new Fortuner is expected to be unveiled this year alongside the new Hilux pickup. It is expected that the new Fortuner will be powered by new diesel powermills, though the petrol engines would also be on offer. Both the petrol and diesel variants of Fortuner will come mated to automatic and manual gearbox with 2WD and 4WD.
The 2016 Fortuner is expected to be launched in India, most likely, in the first half of next year. It will be priced between Rs. 20 lakhs to Rs. 25 lakhs (ex-showroom) and upon its launch in India, it will compete with Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Chevrolet Captiva, Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe.
In India, Toyota Fortuner has maintained itself as the market leader in SUV segment, despite growing competition from other automakers. In December, 2014, the 2016 Fortuner was caught testing in Australia. It is expected that the new Fortuner, could sport chrome intensive exterior, sturdy body lines, larger headlamps and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).
