Recently, Mahindra was caught testing its XUV500 with a sunroof and now the automaker is all set to launch the XUV500 Xclusive edition that will sport a sunroof and nine additional features. As per a report on Team BHP, the XUV500 Xclusive edition will be based on the top-end W8 model. Besides the sunroof, the Xclusive edition will sport a hydraulic bonnet, new infotainment system with internet connectivity, electrically adjustable driver seat and chrome inserts.
It is believed that Mahindra has acquired the electrically adjustable driver seat from the Ssangyong Rexton and the hydraulic bonnet has been taken from the new Scorpio. The Xclusive edition will continue being powered by the 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that dishes out 140 bhp of power and 330 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It is yet to be confirmed, if the Xclusive edition is offered with AWD or FWD.
Mahindra is also expected to launch the hybrid variant (showcased at 2014 Auto Expo) and an AT on the XUV500. Both these variants were recently caught testing and this gives us an impression that the launch of these two variants can be expected soon.
Mahindra & Mahindra has also been caught testing its upcoming models like the U301 and S101 compact SUVs that are slated to be launched this year. The company is working towards building its second largest manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu and for this project, Mahindra has invested Rs. 4,000 crore. The upcoming manufacturing facility aims to focus on the future models that the company plans to roll out. Products like the W202 global MPV and the P601 LCV are likely to be manufactured from this plant.
