Country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki has announced to hike the price of all its range of cars in India in January 2015. The price hike will be in the range of 2 to 4 percent. The reason behind taking this step has been attributed to the rising input costs.
“We are planning to increase the prices in the range of two-four percent across our entire range of products from January. It was in October 2013 that we had taken our last price hike,” the Press Trust of India, reported Maruti’s Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, R S Kalsi, as saying.
Due to poor market conditions, Maruti Suzuki did not hike the price of the vehicles for some time. Before Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors India and BMW India had announced their intentions to hike the prices of their cars in India in January 2015. Mahindra and Tata Motors, too had hiked the prices of all their cars.
