The third generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is scheduled to be launched in mid-2017 and will target an annual sales of over 2 lakhs units, reported Financial Express.
With the success of Maruti Ertiga that was launched in 2012, the company is willing to venture into different segments. Inorder to avail excise duty benefits, the car’s length is expected to be below 4 metres. ‘Karimun WagonR 3 Rows Concept’, a concept quite similar to the YCA was introduced at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in September, 2013. The new WagonR would also be exported to Indonesia.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R was first launched in 2000 and it was positioned between Maruti Suzuki Zen and Maruti Suzuki Esteem. Over the years, the company tried out new looks with the car without changing the shape that maintained the ‘tall boy’ image of the car. The second generation of the Maruti Wagon R is powered by a 1-litre K-series engine and is available in both petrol and CNG versions. Supported by successful marketing initiatives and strengthened by regular up gradations, the company could increase its sales figures. As of now, the company has sold over 15 lakhs units.
