Mercedes-AMG G65 final edition launched internationally
Mercedes-AMG has recently launched the Final Edition of its popular G65 AMG SUV. AMG is the performance wing of Mercedes and it will be making only 65 units, which will be sold worldwide. The G-series of Mercedes-Benz SUVs has been in manufacture since 1979 is one of the world’s most powerful range of SUVs. More than 33 per cent of G-Class SUVs sold worldwide are AMG models. The Mercedes-Benz G65 Final Edition can be yours for about Rs.2.38 crore (31,233 Euros). The G-Class is the car with the lengthiest production run in the history of Mercedes-Benz. The G65 Final Edition gets 12-inch 5-twin spoke alloys done in bronze color, with silver brake calipers and AMG sport trim on the sides. The SUV also gets bronze and obsidian black colored inserts all over the exterior. There are a few matt black design elements as well, such as the running boards and the exhaust pipes. Coming to the interior, the G 65 Final version catches a design exclusive package along with carbon fiber bits and bronzed elements. The words ‘Final Edition’ are lettered on the grab handles and the floor mats as well.
These special SUVs feature bronze accents on the outside that give them a high-end look. The finish covers the 21-inch wheels, bumpers, front grille surround, mirrors, and center section of the spare wheel cover at the back. Smaller exterior design flourishes contain a black mesh center of the grille and high-gloss black trim in the shielding strips down each side of the body.
The Final Edition’s cabin is quite an opulent place to go off-roading. Black nappa leather covers the seats, including a carbon-fiber-like finish for the bolsters’ fabric and bronze contrast stitching for the diamond-quilted center units. In addition, the carbon-fiber trim throughout the interior, features a light brown weave. Occupants up front get heated and ventilated seats. Like the rest of the G65 range, the Final Edition uses a 6.0-liter biturbo V-12 with 621 horsepower (463 kilowatts) and 738 pound-feet (1,000 Newton-meters) of torque. A 7-speed auto routes the output to an all-wheel-drive system. It gets the big SUV to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 230 kph.
The engine remains the same which is a 6.0-litre V12 unit making 621 bhp and has massive peak torque of 1,000 Nm. The 0-100 kmph sprint time is 5.3 seconds while the highest speed is 230 kmph which is restricted automatically. The engine is mated to an AMG 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission. The G65 AMG Final Edition also boasts of solid off-road ability with the ability through 60 cm water depth. The approach/departure angles too are low at 27 degrees with a break over angle of 22 degrees.
