Mercedes Benz is all set to launch its entry level CLA sedan in India on January 22 in the New Year 2015. The CLA sedan could be the cheapest saloon in the country. The Mercedes CLA that will be positioned between B-Class and GLA will compete with Audi A3 in India. The price is expected to hover between Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh.
The compact sedan from Mercedes will be assembled in India at the company’s Chakan facility in Pune, Maharashtra.
The premium car maker that has been selling the CLA 45 AMG in India will offer the compact sedan CLA from its product lineup. The CLA has been built on the MFA platform (upon which the A-Class and B-Class are based). The MFA platform also strengthens the CLA 45 AMG, GLA-Class, A-Class and B-Class.
Powering the CLA sedan will be a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel (that produces 136 bhp and 300Nm torque) and a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol (that produces 181 bhp and 300Nm torque), which is also found under the hood of Mercedes’ GLA-Class SUV.
