New Hero MotoCorp XTreme 200 S to debut on December 18, 2018

The new Hero MotoCorp 125cc scooter will reportedly arrive on December 18 but it may not be the only model coming from the stables of the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer. December 18 may also mark the arrival of the much awaited XTreme 200 S, the bike that was revealed at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. There is still no official announcement by Hero MotoCorp. On the same day, Hero MotoCorp’s forthcoming 125cc scooter and an 110cc Hero Passion Pro will also make their debut, reports the website.

The new Xtreme 200 S is a muscular street fighter with enhanced performance and dynamics. The bike comes equipped with a back mono suspension instead of the conservative 2-sided unit on previous variants. The motorbike will also get modern safety features such as like ABS. The bike also features styling elements like air vents in front cowl, tank-shroud and belly-pan. The new Xtreme 200 S is built on a diamond type chassis design and features front and back disc brakes and LED lights and a back mono suspension.

Mechanical updates are the primary talking point as this is the most powerful Xtreme variant till now. Powered by an air cooled, single cylinder, 4-stroke 200cc engine, the bike delivers a maximum power of 18.6 PS at 8500 rpm and maximum torque of 17.2 Nm at 6000 rpm. Telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock hold the frame. For braking, the motorcycle employs disc on both ends. Hero MotoCorp is likely to offer an ABS variant as an option. Expect the bike to carry a price tag of INR 1 lakh, ex-showroom. Once launched, it will lock horns with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Bajaj Pulsar NS200 in the division. The Indian 2-wheeler maker also plans to launch a 200-cc offroader in late 2018. Hero showcased the concept bike, the XPulse at the 2017 EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
