As we just said, the new model Nissan X-Trail India launch will take place by the end of this year. Nissan had plans to launch the X-Trail past, but there were delays for various reasons. Pricing and high demand for diesel-powered SUVs are to be blamed. However, with Hybrid options enjoying a tax advantage now, Nissan is working towards bringing the X-Trail to India as soon as possible. At the launch of the Terrano facelift, Nissan stated that the manufacturer will be launching 8 new models by 2021.
he 2014 X-Trail gets a major revamp in its third generation guise and one of the key issues of not having a third row of seats has now been taken care of. The India bound X-Trail will come to us alone in its hybrid avatar which comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine that will work in conjunction with an electric motor. This combo has a joint power output of 179 BHP. The engine will be coupled to either a six speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
Internationally, the new X-Trail gets Active Ride Control which scans the road that lies ahead and regulates the suspension of the car accordingly and this will surely help the off-road trips. It will not be available with a 4-wheel drive system and will get a seven inch touchscreen Nissan Connect Infotainment system on the inside. It will lock horns with the likes of Honda CR–V, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Santa Fe.
