The Porsche 911 Targa, which is known for its graceful styling was launched today in India at a price tag starting from Rs. 15,610,000 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). With the introduction of the new Targa 4 and 4S models, Porsche is trying to expand its Porsche 911 range in India. However, the company’s India product lineup misses out on the GTS mainstream trim.
The design has been built on the 1965 model (the original model) with the car getting contemporary sportiness of the 7th generation. The original concept is now enhanced by the state of the art roof technology.
The new Targa sports the characteristic wide bar instead of the B-pillars, a wraparound rear window without the C-pillar and a movable roof section above the front seats. The roof segment of the new models are little different from the classic models as it can now be closed or opened at the push of a button in just 19 seconds. The fully automatic roof system holds the convertible top behind the rear seats.
The new Targa generation is available in two versions with an all-wheel drive. Powering the 911 Targa 4 is a 3.4-liter 6-cylinder engine producing 350 hp. The Targa 4 model is also equipped with an optional Sport Chrono package and Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) that enables the Targa 4 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph within 4.6 seconds and can attain a top speed of 174 mph.
The 911 Targa 4S is powered by a 3.8-liter horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine that produces 400 hp and if it is equipped with the optional Sport Chrono package and Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph within 4.2 seconds. It can attain a top speed of 183 mph.
The latest 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S are available across all Porsche outlets in India. In Delhi, the 911 Targa 4 will be available for Rs. 15,900,000 and the 911 Targa 4S will be available for Rs. 17,850,000. In Maharashtra, the 911 Targa 4 will be available for Rs. 15,610,000 and the 911 Targa 4S will be available for 17,525,000.
