The 2015 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack has been unveiled ahead of its debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show that is scheduled in March this year.Based upon the eighth generation Passat, the all-wheel-drive Passat Alltrack Wagon features an off-road inspired body cladding, suspension which is raised by 27.5 mm and heavy duty bashplates on the bumpers.
The new alloy wheels adds on to the style quotient of the car. The alloy wheels are available in 17 inches, 18 inches and 19 inches sizes. The exteriors also sport new roof rails, silver exterior highlights and plastic cladded wheel arches.
As confirmed by Volkswagen, the new Passat Alltrack will hit Australian markets in 2016. At the powertrain front, it is yet to be confirmed, which engines will be used in the new Passat Alltrack locally. In the overseas market, the company is offering two turbocharged petrol 4-cylinders (a 1.4-litre with 110kW and a 2.0-litre with 162kW) and three turbo diesel engine options (all 2.0-litre capacity, with outputs of 110kW, 140kW or 177kW).
The versions that come equipped with Volkswagen’s XDS+ traction management system can aid power delivery while cornering. There are four driving modes in the car, namely, Off Road mode, Eco mode, Normal mode and Sport mode.
The interiors sport a mildly updated version of standard Passat wagon’s 5-seat cabin that features standard stainless steel sill plates, upholstered seats and a wide range of infotainment options that includes provision for Apple’s Car Play, Google’s Android Auto and Mirror Link Systems.
