Nissan will showcase the next-generation Nissan Micra at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show with a new concept car called ‘Sway’. According to a report on Autocar UK, Nissan will be coming up with something more radical to replace the current Mk4 Micra in 18 months.
As per Nissan, Sway will assure the same kind of product planning and innovative design that resulted the Juke and Qashqai. “The Nissan Sway concept is a glimpse at how a future generation of small Nissan models could look if the company’s striking new design language was applied to a European hatchback,” the Autocar UK report quoted the carmaker, as saying.
Nissan also intends to drop the ‘Micra’ name and give a new badge to the car. The carmaker aims to design this car for the European market but would also look forward to achieving success in emerging markets. Nissan is also working on the next-generation Juke.
“We see it as a car that can sit easily next to the Ford Fiesta or VW Polo. The Note does a good job there now, but in time the Micra will take that role, with the Note pushing more towards those who want MPV-like capacity,” the Autocar UK report quoted ex-Nissan boss Andy Palmer, as saying.
