Renault is in plans to recall 646 cars to check the faulty units. The 646 units will include the diesel variant of the Scala sedan and the Pulse hatchback that was manufactured from September 2011 and July 2012. The company has not received any complaints related to faulty airbags and this is a voluntary recall from Renault.

“Renault is conducting a voluntary check on certain potentially affected Renault vehicles (620 Pulse and 26 Scala — produced between September 2011 and July 2012) which may have a possibility of driver airbag problem,” an ET Auto report quoted the company’s spokesperson, as saying.

Renault currently offers five models in the Indian market and that includes two sedans i.e. Scala and Fluence, two SUVs Koleos and Duster and the Pulse hatchback.

Renault cars recalled

Ever since Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the auto industry body initiated voluntary vehicle recalls to ensure safety among vehicles in India in July 2012, nearly 7 lakhs vehicles have been recalled by various car makers.

In December, 2014, Ford India had recalled 20,752 units of Ford Ecosport that was manufactured between January 2013 and September 2014, to fix defects in the cars airbags and fuel and vapour line corrosion. In October, last year, Nissan India had recalled 9,000 units of Micra and Sunny to replace faulty airbags. Even Maruti Suzuki India had recalled 3,796 units of the newly launched Ciaz to fix the faulty clutch.
