Recently, Ford India was caught testing the Ford Figo compact sedan and the hatchback. However, the names of the upcoming Figo siblings was yet to be confirmed. According to a report on Motor Octane, the American automaker will name its upcoming compact sedan as ‘Figo Aspire’, while the hatchback will be called the ‘Figo’.
The Figo siblings (Aspire and Figo) will be powered by a 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol engine that produces 76 bhp and 103 Nm. The 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol powermill is the same 1.2-litre Duratec engine that has now got variable valve timing. The engine has been tuned to deliver maximum performance and fuel efficiency and will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The diesel variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre TDCi engine that dishes out 75bhp and 195Nm and will ensure fuel efficiency of close to 27 kms per litre. The diesel engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Ford Fiesta is also powered by the same diesel engine that produces 90bhp and delivers fuel efficiency of close to 25 kms per litre.
The Ford Figo Aspire (compact sedan) and Ford Figo (hatchback) will get steering mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, integrated music system with bluetooth connectivity, Microsoft SYNC, ABS and the top end variant will get dual airbags.
The Figo siblings will be manufactured at the company’s manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The Figo Aspire will compete with Maruti Dzire, Tata Zest, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, while the Figo will compete with Swift, Bolt, Brio, Grand i10 in India.
The Figo siblings are sold in Brazil in the name of Ford Ka (hatchback) and Ford Ka+ (sedan). Do you think, Ford Aspire (compact sedan) and Ford Figo (hatchback) will give tough competition to their competitors in their respective segments?
