Japan based electric two and three wheeler manufacturer, Terra Motors has unveiled its electric scooter A2000. With the launch of A2000 (the successive model of A4000i), the company aims at expanding the electric scooter market worldwide. Terra Motors made its debut in India in early 2014 with the launch of its Kiwami electric sports bike. It will put its electric three wheeler, R6 on sale in India early this year.

The company had launched the A4000i on September 29, 2014, which was the first e-scooter with smartphone connection.

“Terra has received more than 300 orders of A4000i from Japan, Vietnam, Italy and Iran in the first 3 months. Following this success, today we are pleased to launch A2000,” says Toru Tokushige, CEO of Terra Motors.

Though A2000 gets consistent design as the A4000i, it has been priced competitively. The A2000 features double shock rear suspension, Lead-acid battery, comes without an iPhone connection and will be available in three color shades- white, green and red purple.

The A2000 that will be first available in Vietnam from this month, will also enter other international markets as the company is planning to make distributor agreements in 10 to 15 countries until this summer.

Will Terra Motors bring the A2000 to India? In December, 2014, when Terra Motors had unveiled the electric three wheeler, R6, the company had said that India is one of the most important markets for Terra Motors.

But the big question is, will the A2000 have a smooth ride in India? Will the current target group of two wheeler riders transition from the petrol powered two wheelers to electric two wheelers.

If at all, Terra Motors launches the A2000 in India, it could probably eye at the business parks, smart cities and advanced housing projects that are keen on maintaining ‘Green Quotient’ in their construction projects.
