The test mule of Mahindra XUV 500 facelift (that seems to be ready for launch in the coming months) was caught testing in Chennai with almost no camouflage. Going by the spy shots, only the rear license plate of the XUV 500 has been camouflaged.
The 2015 XUV 500 facelift is expected to get cosmetic changes and it will feature new alloys, chrome handles and a new LED lit spoiler mounted stop light for all the top end variants. Since Mahindra has kept the area surrounding the rear license plate under wraps and that being the only area that has been camouflaged, we can expect noticeable changes in that particular area. The front fascia will sport changes in the headlamps along with some alterations to the bumper and grille.
The interiors are expected to be fine-tuned in a better way with inclusion of new materials, trims and colors and new features could also be included to the cockpit.
At the powertrain front, the SUV is expected to continue with the 2.2-litre diesel engine that churns out 140bhp and 330 Nm of torque and will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox that is available in the current model. The 2015 model is expected to get a 6-speed automatic gearbox, which the company will borrow from the Ssangyong Tivoli compact SUV.
Mahindra has been working towards to ensure that the upcoming 2015 XUV 500 is completely a problem free SUV. Mahindra is also testing the next generation Mahindra bolero and the Mahindra Thar facelift. 2015 seems to be a very busy year for the folks at Mahindra as the company is ensuring to roll out its products in a way that it does not create any hassle for its customers.
2015 Mahindra XUV 500 is expected to be priced between Rs. 11 lakhs to Rs. 15 lakhs.
