After the success of Renault Duster, Renault India is in plans to introduce a low cost hatchback that would rival the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800. The prototype of the car was snapped first in Himachal Pradesh by a Motoroids reader.
The test mule has been wrapped completely, however, the car’s proportion can be figured out seein ghte test mule. The car’s front sports large headlamps, a black wing mirror and a single blade wiper for the windshield and the tyres are not broad enough. In the rear section of the car, the definition line on the tail gate and bumper are quite distinguished. The rear profile also features high mounted stop lamp and the tail lights gel well with the number plate housing.
Going by the spy shots of the interiors, the seats of the car get dual tone fabric upholstery, a three-spoke steering wheel, a pull up or push down type lock and the gear lever is sourced from the Renault Duster.
The Common Module Family (CMF) platform developed by the Renault-Nissan Alliance has been christened as Common Module Family – Affordable (CMF-A), which is a platform built for small and less expensive cars. The XBA will be based on the CMF-A platform. Even the Datsun Redi-Go is based on the CMFA platform and its concept form was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo, 2014.
The Renault XBA will be launched towards the end of 2015 and it will compete with Hyundai Eon and Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 in India.
Renault is also working towards launching the Renault Lodgy MPV in 2015, which will be Renault’s offering in the Indian MPV segment. Seeing the success of Duster in India, Renault is also working towards introducing the seven-seater Renault Duster SUV.
