Tata Motors seems to have aggressive plans for the Indian automobile market. A quick analysis at the previous product launches done by Tata Motors would make it clear that Tata Motors is replacing all its existing models with the newer and upgraded automobile products. After replacing Manza with Zest (in the mid-sized sedan section) and Vista with the Tata Bolt (to be launched in early 2015) in the hatchback segment, Tata Motors is coming up with two new automobile products that would be placed at one segment lower than the Zest and Bolt respectively.
Kite was spotted first in Pune while it was running through a testing phase. Tata Motors is reworking on the two new models to ensure improved quality in terms of the ride, handling the vehicle. We could also expect more equipment and better interiors. The new compact sedan could resemble the Zest upto quite an extent but the shape of the new car is more likely to resemble the eCS.
The Kite sedan could have a 1.2-litre petrol engine, developed in-house by Tata. It could also have a 1.05-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine (derived from Tata’s own 1.4-litre DiCOR diesel engine). We also hear that the Kite sedan would also be available with an AMT automatic gearbox along with the standard manual gearbox.
The Kite sedan is believed to be priced below other compact sedans in the Indian market.
