The highly anticipated Tata Nexon has been launched in the country and is the newest entrant to the feisty subcompact SUV segment. It is a first product from Tata Motors in the sub 4-metre SUV space and the carmaker has kept prices aggressive. Prices for the new Nexon start at Rs.5.85 lakh going up to Rs.8.60 lakh for the petrol; and Rs.6.85 lakh up to Rs.9.45 lakh (all-prices, ex-showroom Delhi) on the diesel powered versions. The Tata Nexon is being manufactured at the Ranjangaon plant, near Pune, where the Jeep Compass is also made. Bookings have already commenced across all Tata Motors showrooms, which the company has called “encouraging”. Deliveries, on the other hand, commence from today across the country. The Tata Nexon is built on the same Influence design attitude as Tata’s recent line-up of cars and thus comes with a very intricate styling and exterior features. Projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED tail lamps are on offer along with a unique dash top HD infotainment display and a multi-driving mode system. The new Nexon is available in four trims – XE, XM, XT, and XZ+, while there are five colors on offer, namely – Moroccan Blue, Vermont Red, Seattle Silver, Glasgow Grey and Calgary White.

Tata is also offering a dual-tone option on the XZ+ trim with a gloss black finished roof. The Nexon gets a 6.5-inch HD screen with a brand new user interface. The infotainment unit also gets android auto and apple car play, something that is expected of a car in this price range. You also get the 8 speakers Harman audio setup. The dashboard is two-tone with a black upper half and beige lower half with a large central plastic slab in the middle. This slab is painted in an almost liquid metal shade that also carries on to the steering wheel and the door panels tying up the design well. The central console that surrounds the audio and the climate control knobs are all finished in gloss black. The Nexon comes with height adjustment for both the steering wheel and the driver’s seat. Sadly though, there isn’t leather interior option, even on the top of the line variant. You get a pair of individually adjustable rear AC vents and a flip down central console too along with a get a high mounted 12-volt charging port to add to the convenience in the rear seat.
