The 10th generation of the Honda Civic is ready to launch in India by the end of the year 2017. The Civic sedan that was dropped in the 2012 will make its comeback in a new avatar. The model will fill the gap between the newly launched Honda City and the new version of Honda Accord Hybrid. With the Civic sedan, Honda plans to refocus on the first-class segments following the launch of a slew of updated and new volume- segment models. The ASEAN – spec Honda Civic is expected to be the one close to the Indian – spec and measures 4,630 mm in total length, 1,416 mm in height and 1,799 mm in width with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. In terms of features, Honda Civic 2017 will sport LED headlights with LED daytime running lamps, LED front fog lights, full-color LCD instrument panel, 7 inch touchscreen system with navigation, 8 speaker sound system, remote engine start, 8 way power changeable driver seat, Lane Watch blind-spot camera, six airbags and multi angle rearview camera.
In the international market, the Civic is offered in a range of engine-spec starting from a 1.0-litre turbo petrol to a naturally aspirated 2 litre petrol engine. Aforementioned that the Indian spec is expected to be the one close to ASEAN spec, which is a 1.8 litre I – VTEC naturally aspirated 4 cylinder petrol engine and the 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine. We can expect the turbocharged unit to make its entrance in the Indian market. On the other hand, the diesel could be Honda’s 1.6 litre diesel engine with 120 B.H.P, which is sold in the international marketplace. It is predictable that new Civic will be more fuel efficient than the Old model. In city conditions, the diesel Civic is probable to return 12.6kmpl as opposed to the 16.51kmpl on highway.
