Most Porsche fans were rather disappointed when the previous 911 GT3 model was offered only with a 7-speed PDK automatic transmission. For Porsche aficionados, it was nothing short of sacrilege. But with new 911 GT3, Porsche paid heed to the cries of its fans and has given it a 6-speed manual sports gearbox. As far as the engine is concerned, the new 911 GT3 gets a 4.0 Liter flat-six engine which is naturally aspirated (surprise, again) and pumps out close to 493 bhp. The 2018 911 GT3 with the PDK automatic transmission does the 0-100 kmph sprint in 3.4 seconds and hits a top of 318 kmph. The manual 911 GT3 is just 0.5 seconds slower to reach the 100 kmph mark but has a slightly faster top speed of 320 kmph.
The new Porsche 911 GT3 tips the scales at just 1,430 kg. Equipped with the standard seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Should you opt for the 6-speed manual gear transmission (and it’s highly suggested that you do), the new GT’s weight drops to 1,413 kg. But it also adds 0.1 seconds to the 0-96 km/h sprint, before topping out at 318 km/h.
Porsche 911 GT3 also receives a tuned chassis aimed at improving control and driving dynamics. It gets Back Axle Steering, a new lightweight carbon fiber rear wing and an updated front fascia for enhanced airflow. The rear end gets a new diffuser and new tail-pipes. Inside, the Porsche 911 GT3 gets the same steering wheel as seen on the 918 Spyder, sports seats with 18-way electric adjustable and the choice of full bucket seats with fixed carbon fiber backrests. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) also comes standard. The good news is that the new 911 GT3 is available to order in India at a starting price of Rs.2,19,91,000 or Rs.2.2 crore, ex-showroom, Delhi. The car will be launched in India in the middle of September, 2017.
