The Jupiter brand from TVS has been a branded name in every household. It has been the main selling scooter for TVS and might get a sibling soon in the 125-cc avatar. The company, also the 3rd largest 2-wheeler producer in India, is understood to be developing an all-new 125cc scooter model(s), which may see roll-out in the first few months of CY 2017. The Hosur-based company is also learnt to be considering floating a new scooter brand to launch its upcoming line-up of more powerful and stylish city scooters. It is learned that TVS is currently developing a 125cc scooter that could be presented in the India in the next rare months. While there is not a lot of information on this upcoming scooter, there is a high chance of this scooter being launched under the Jupiter brand. The Hosur-based company is still trying to figure out if using Jupiter for its 125-cc scooter makes sense or launch it under the new brand. Most of the builders except Bajaj have a scooter in the 110-cc segment, but companies like Suzuki and Honda have presence in the growing 125-cc segment as well. In fact, Hero Moto-Corp plans to launch their 125cc scooter – the Dare – in the next few months. TVS does not want to stay behind and wants to have a slice of the 125-cc segment. We’re quite excited to see this 125-cc scooter.

Four different sources, all selecting to stay anonymous, have confirmed that TVS is developing 125-cc scooter models – and hence a stronger scooter portfolio – to take its game-plan a notch greater. “TVS Motor is readying a 125-cc scooter model which is projected to be rolled out early next year. The company is treading its own steady path in launching and developing new products. The company is also assessing the possibility of debuting in this segment (125cc) under a new brand name. However, it was expected that a 125-cc scooter may get branding under the successful Jupiter name, The Jupiter has established itself very well, and this clearly means that it will continue with its current momentum in the market. However, that is the only top -selling scooter brand from the TVS stable, which means that the company will have to look at coming up with another scooter brand that could sell for them,” disclosed another source.
