New Chevrolet Beat To Launch in July 2017
Chevrolet has assured to give us the first sights of the 2017 Beat by the end of May. We should get our hands on the wheel in June as our sources confirm that the deliveries will commence sometime in July 2017. The Beat, also known as Spark globally, has already seen a gen change in 2016 while we will have to remain content with a mere facelift. The new Beat is going to get a revamped front and rear design and the interior design too will largely remain the same. The infotainment system will get replaced with a 7-inch touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play. It’s unlikely that the climate control, which was taken away in 2014 as part of the mid-life facelift might make a comeback. We could, still, get power mirrors on higher variants.
The new Beat will retain the current-gen car’s 936-cc diesel and 1.2-litre petrol powertrains with 5-speed gearboxes. That puny diesel engine offers good drivability in the city with brilliant fuel proficiency. The petrol engine packs a good punch but it’s neither an enthusiast-focused powertrain nor is it a very efficient one. The automatic gear transmissions are still unlikely to find a place on the menu. On the reliability front, however, both the engines have a proven track record and come with a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty as standard, which can be extended for two more years.
Chevrolet has not priced its cars well so far and the company banks on heavy discounts to move its products. With the new Beat, pricing will play a critical role as the Tata Tiago has raised the benchmark with features, efficiency, design and an attractive price tag. The current Beat is priced between Rs.3.95 lakh and Rs.6.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect the new Beat to carry a price tag ranging from Rs.4.3 lakh and Rs.6.45 lakh. The Tiago, for comparison, starts at Rs.3.24 lakh and tops out at Rs.5.78 lakh.
