Ferrari FXX-K Evo revealed as more hardcore flagship model

A company backed by Nest co-founder Tony Fadell is taking Andy Rubin's startup to court.

Ferrari has unveiled a new Evo package for its FXX-K hypercar that makes the track-only model even more hardcore. The FXX-K Evo is available as a very limited run model and as an add-on pack for the exclusive hypercar. The FXX-K Evo, which is based on the LaFerrari, sees developments to the aerodynamic package and a reduction in overall weight. The more hardcore model is now capable of producing 830kg worth of down force at full chat – an increase of 23 percent over the FXX and 75 percent over the standard LaFerrari. When travelling at 198kph, the upgraded model can produce 640kg of downforce, almost equivalent to that of a GT3 championship car. The FXX-K Evo gets tweaked front and rear bumpers to improve airflow. The additional intake in front of the front wheels adds 10 % more downforce compared to the standard FXX-K with further improvements are inspired by the brand’s GT efforts. It also possesses redesigned front brake air intakes. Another 30 % of the added downforce is thanks to the vortex creators on the undertray.

The back of the hardcore hypercar now gets a fixed rear wing that has advanced to work in tandem with the active rear spoiler. While the active rear spoiler is not new, the software has been upgraded to provide maximum benefit. It also comes with a central wing that runs from the middle of the models back along with a wing at each corner. The vortex generators are fitted on the central wing. The suspension has also been revised to deal with the increased downforce. However, the new FXX-K Evo has gone on a diet and sports more aero compared to the present FXX-K. At its top speed, the FXX-K Evo produces 830 kilograms of downforce which is 23 percent more than what the FXX-K produces. Compared to the road-going LaFerrari, the upsurge in downforce is a mind-boggling 75 %.
At 200kph, the FXX-K Evo produces 640 kilos of downforce, which is similar to the amount produced by GT3 racing cars. On the inside, the FXX-K Evo has been fitted with a new steering wheel and a little larger infotainment screen, which uses a new telemetry system. The FXX-K Evo can only be used on track, like the FXX-K.
