2015 Hyundai ix25 scores full marks in C-NCAP crash test
The India bound 2015 Hyundai iX25 compact SUV was recently run through the C-NCAP crash test in China. Under the China New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP), the ix25 bagged 5/5 stars. The upcoming Hyundai ix25 had undergone four tests to assess the impact on the car during unpredictable situations of car crashes. The four tests included the 100 percent overlap front crash, 40 percent overlap front crash, side impact and whiplash.
The 100 percent overlap frontal crash test was conducted at a speed of 50 kms per hour. The car scored 15.89 points out of the maximum possible score of 18 in this particular test. The 40 percent overlap frontal impact test was conducted at a speed of 64 kms per hour, in which the ix25 scored 14.11 out of 18 points.
The side impact test was conducted with a misshaped barrier that was travelling at a speed of 50-51 km/h. The images suggest, that the car being tested is the base version that has been deprived of side or curtain air bags. The ix25 scored 18/18 points in this test.
In the whiplash test, the car also scored 100 percent marks. The whiplash test witnessed the driver’s seat and restraint system acting at a speed of 15.65 km/h.
Hyundai iX25 that will compete with Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano in India, has already been launched in China. The concept version of Hyundai ix25 was first shown at the Beijing Auto Show, 2014.
The ix25 is expected to hit Indian roads in the first half of this year and this car is expected to be one of the biggest launch from Hyundai Motors as the company has reportedly pumped in Rs. 1,000 crore in this project.
The ix25 will use its Verna’s 1.6/1.4 CRDI and 1.6 VTVT powertrains along with a 6-Speed auto and six-speed manual gearbox.
