Hyundai Xcent Facelift Launch by Mid 2017

A company backed by Nest co-founder Tony Fadell is taking Andy Rubin's startup to court.

Hyundai launched the Grand i10 facelift in India in February last year. It is based on the 2017 Hyundai i10 facelift that was shown last year. The Grand i10’s sedan derivative will also receive an alike treatment. While the front will be same to the Grand i10 facelift, the back could undergo major changes. Based on recent spy shots, the tail is set to get a very complete renovation. The 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift launch will happen in the first half of 2017.

The Xcent facelift will be launched at least a couple of months after the launch of its hatchback brother. Test mules of the 2017 Xcent facelift have been spotted on public roads. Our guess is that the 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift launch will take place in the 2nd quarter of 2017. In 2017, Hyundai is will also launch the new AWD variants of the Tucson and Verna in India. Their much-awaited compact SUV will come to us in early 2018.

With the launch of the 2017 Grand i10, the starting price came down. However, the top end variants got more luxurious. That could be the case with the 2017 Xcent as well. Prices of the higher end trims of the Hyundai Xcent could see a slight increase. This will be majorly due to the addition of new features. Presently, the base petrol model of the Xcent costs Rs.5.4 lakh. The top end Diesel model is rated at Rs.8.06 lakh. Expect the forthcoming new model Xcent to cost about 20,000-30,000 more than the current model.

Like the existing model, the front end of the forthcoming Xcent facelift will be identical to that of the Grand i10 facelift. It gets a new ‘cascading’ front grille design. DRLs will be placed next to the new fog lights. It will be exciting to see what Hyundai does with the back end of the Xcent. We are not a big fan of the rear end styling of the present model. Based on the recent spy shots, the Xcent facelift will feature new, split tail lamps. The back bumper and bootlid detailing will also be fresh.

The facelift will not only feature cosmetic updates but a new diesel engine as well. Instead of the present 1.1 Liter, the new model Xcent will get a 1.2 L Diesel and so, the specifications will also change. This 1.2 L diesel is the same one that powers the new Grand i10. It will continue with the 1.2 Liter engine. Both engines get a five speed manual gear transmission as standard. The 1.2 L Petrol is also available with an optional four speed automatic transmission.
