Jeep Compass to be unveiled in India on 12 April, 2017
FCA India has revealed that the Jeep Compass SUV will be unveiled to the press on April 12. Jeep India will be tasked exclusively with the manufacture of the RHD specification.
No other details have been divulged other than the date of the presentation. It will be more or less equal to the model present sold in Brazil, which measures 1,820 mm in width, 4,410 mm in length and 1,640 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,630 mm. The exterior of top end grades could come equipped with projector beam headlights, LED signature tail lamps, LED signature lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, power lift gate, and a panoramic glass roof.
Spy shots of Jeep Compass prototypes testing in India revealed an all-black interior contrasted by silver elements. Some of the gear we can expect are a 7.0-inch full color LED instrument cluster, Uconnect 8.4-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, rear parking camera, powered driver seat, auto-dimming IRVM, although the 9-speaker Beats Audio Premium II audio system with a 12-channel amplifier and a sub-woofer may not make the cut.
For the Indian market, the Compass could offer a 1.4-litre turbocharged Multi-Air petrol engine and 2.0-litre Multi-jet II turbo diesel engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed dual clutch transmission for the former and a nine speed auto gear transmission for the latter. The Jeep Active Drive full time 4 wheel drive system could be exclusive to the diesel variant.
