2017 Kawasaki Z1000 and Z250 Launching Tomorrow
Following the launch of the 2017 variants of the Z650, Z900 Ninja 650 and Ninja 300 with new color schemes and engines meeting BS-IV norms, Kawasaki is now gearing up to launch the Z1000 and the Z250 tomorrow. The Z1000 is the most powerful offering in the Z series while the Z250 is the smallest and most affordable motorcycle of the lot. The Z1000 gets a 1043cc, in-line 4 cylinder engine nestled between the twin-tube aluminum frames develops 142PS @ 11000rpm and a peak torque of 111Nm @ 7300rpm. Braking duties are taken care by dual semi-floating 310mm petal disc rotors with 4-piston caliper at the front and a single 250mm petal disc with single piston caliper at the rear.
The Z1000 gets 41mm upside down (USD) forks at the front with 120mm travel and a horizontal back-link, gas-charged monoshock unit at the rear. With a seat height of 815mm, ground clearance of 125mm and a fuel tank capacity of 17 liters, the Z1000 won’t be a difficult bike to live with on a daily basis. The Z1000 is shod with 120/70 Z R17 tyre at the front and 190/50 Z R17 tyre at the rear. The 2016 version of the Z1000 was priced at Rs.12.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and we expect a price bump of around Rs.50, 000 – Rs.1 lakh for the 2017 model.
The Z250 is the most affordable motorcycle offered by Kawasaki and is powered by a 249cc, parallel-twin engine which produces 32PS @ 11000rpm and a peak torque of 21Nm @ 10000rpm. It is constructed over a diamond type steel frame. Braking duties at the front and rear are handled by a 290mm petal disc and a 220mm petal disc with two-piston caliper respectively. The Z250 gets a 37mm telescopic fork suspension with 120mm travel at the front and bottom-link uni-trak, gas-charged monoshock unit with 130mm travel at the rear. Seat height and ground clearance is 785mm and 145mm respectively and it gets a 17 litre fuel tank. The motorcycle is currently priced at Rs 3.11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and we expect a price hike of Rs.15, 000 to Rs.30, 000 for the 2017 model.
